Upcoming Motorola C Series Handset

Upcoming Motorola C Series Handset
Motorola hasn't forgotten about the entry level market with this upcoming handset that is tipped to be released under the C-series banner. It will feature :-

* GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3G
* Bluetooth connectivity
* microSD memory card slot
* 2 megapixel camera
* SMS/MMS/E-Mail Message
* A-GPS

A-GPS? I thought that was only available in more advanced cell phones. Ah well, good to see this extra bit thrown in then. No word on pricing or availability as at press time.

World's First Solar Mobile Phone

We've seen the prototypes and heard the speculation for years now, but here we have it, the world's first solar cell phone, and you can buy one right now...if you happen to live in China.

HiTech Wealth telecommunications has just begun selling the S116 and the specs are pretty impressive. However, the $510 pricetag will have you wondering why you don't just get an iPhone. A 1.3 mpx camera, and an MP3 player are fairly standard additions to cell phones these days, but the solar panels do make this guy stand out.

The panels trickle-charge the battery in any amount of light, including indoors (or even by candlelight), and the battery life is 2.5 times longer than it would be without the panels. An hour of direct sunlight will give users 40 extra minutes of talk time.

While this first model is pretty exciting, HiTech Wealth will be releasing six more solar phones within the year and has promised 30 solar models before 2009

8 megapixel Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot leaked

8 megapixel Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot leaked
Well, Sony Ericsson have been covering this one up until now. Their uber cameraphone is finally in the wild with all the sweet details. The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot codenamed Shiho is an 8 megapixel shooter and believe us when we saw this - this one is not a mock up, we've seen it live with our very own eyes.
The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot packs auto focus (but you already knew that), face detection, image stabilization and both a xenon and a photo flash (this one's for video), as well as a nice new feature called Smart Contrast.

The C905 photos can be geotagged thanks to the built-in GPS receiver. The accelerometer will allow for screen auto rotation when you go through your camera album. It's also got a TV-out port for watching your images on the TV.

The Sony Ericsson C905 is also armed with a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display with scratch-resistant mineral glass cover. It's the first Sony Ericsson feature phone to feature Wi-Fi support - and there's even more. The Wi-Fi feature supports DLNA, which is basically a wireless media sharing protocol that runs on top of Wi-Fi. Nokia N96 has it too by the way.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot is somewhere in the line of 104 x 49 x 18 (or 19.5) millimetres and weighs good 136 grams. It'll be available in Copper Gold, Ice Silver & Night Black in early Q4 2008 with a bundled 2 GB Memory Stick Micro M2.

Connectivity wise, it comes in three variants, two with full support for UMTS and HSDPA for the respective regions (yes, the Americas too). The battery is good for 380 hours of standby or 9 hours of talk on GSM networks, or 360 hours of standby or 4 hours of talk on 3G networks.

Nokia 6600 Fold Release Announced - New Flip Nokia 6600
Nokia have today announced the release of a new flip phone to add to their vast collection, the Nokia 6600 Fold is the first to be known by this name although the model number has been used in the past. The original Nokia 6600 was a candy bar format design with rounded corners and a bulky middrift.

Weight: 110g
Talktime: 4.0 h
Standby time: 300 h
Dimensions: 87.7 x 44 x 15.9 mm

Available as a clamshell or slider, the Nokia 6600 is accompanied by the Nokia 3600 Slide in Nokia’s latest fashion lineup.
The Nokia 6600 Fold features the same ability as the Nokia 6600 Slide in terms of being able to control snooze, alerts, silences and the rejection of incoming calls by simple tapping the body of the phone twice.
Boasting Nokia Maps and Nokia Search, the Nokia 6600 Fold offers a complete entertainment package that includes a 2 mega pixel camera with inbuilt flash and video recording capabilities plus a secondary videocall camera and a music player accompanied by the presence of an integrated stereo FM radio.
The 18MB internal memory can be boosted up to 4GB via the microSD card slot to provide ample storage capacity and in terms of connectivity the Nokia 6600 Fold is pretty well equipped there as well with GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3G along with bluetooth wireless and USB connectivity.
Available in a choice of either Mysterious Black or Sophisticated Purple, the Nokia 6600 Fold has been designed for a more comfortable fit in your hand and against the face when making calls courtesy of its rounded and more blended contours.
The phones glossy finish and 1.3″ external hidden display are the first indication of just how much effort has gone into the phone’s design and opens to reveal an internal 2.13″ OLED display which is great for viewing images, browse online and checking emails without the need to squint.

Gresso presents Black Diamonds

Gresso has announced a couple of new additions to their Avantgarde series. Besides Luna and Sol models, the series crafted from a mix of precious and rare materials will now be joined by the Black Diamonds collection. The collection will comprise of the Black Diamonds and the Royal Black Diamonds models.

The high-roller Gresso Avantgarde collection handsets are hand-crafted from the exotic African Blackwood. Gold elements cover the mobiles from head to toe. The back panel is made out of stainless steel but is covered by scratch-resistant hand-polished titanium. Attention has been paid to every detail and all the materials used - sapphire crystal glass surrounds the QVGA TFT 65K color display while the titanium-covered keypad comes with laser-cut Roman numerals. Other notable features include the magnetic lock of the battery cover and the use of gold for the screws and some of the keys.

Gresso Royal Black Diamonds • Gresso Black Diamonds

Much like the last two Avantgarde mobiles - the Luna and the Sol, the two Black Diamonds mobiles are truly unique with the Windows Mobile 6 Standard OS they were running on - something never before seen in the world of luxury mobiles.

The Gresso Avantgarde Royal Black Diamonds mobile has a full keypad made of gold - all 23 keys are encased with black diamonds. Since those diamonds are extremely rare only a limited series of 50 mobiles will be ever produced. The Gresso Avantgarde Royal Black Diamonds will be selling at EUR 30 000.

The Gresso Avantgarde Black Diamonds mobile will feature only four black diamonds. The rest of the keys are made out of gold only. The expected retail price of the Gresso Avantgarde Black Diamonds is EUR 9000.

Both mobiles have tri-band GSM/GPRS support and 2 megapixel cameras. The Russian-based Gresso company will make the handset available as soon as this December.
